Check-in begins at 8:30am EST

Welcome: Start your college career by meeting the Orientation Leaders of UConn Waterbury and fellow incoming students. Learn what the day has to offer and how you can make the most of it!

Student Success Part 1: Learn about a variety of student services and resources available to you on campus. Meet those in charge and ask any questions to help you succeed.

Protect Our Pack: Being a Husky is more than being a good student, it is about being a good person. Learn what it means to be a part of our community.

Campus Tour: Take a guided tour led by the Orientation Leaders. Learn about the locations of prominent resources, classroom spaces, and important landmarks to best prepare you for the Fall semester.

Lunch: Take a break with some food! Get to know the community and take time to reflect and relax.

Identity Wheel: Explore and share your identities with other students. Discuss how our differences make us stronger, and how you can utilize your identity to benefit you and the campus!

Student Success Part 2: Learn about the academic resources available to you. Discover how you can utilize these opportunities to be successful inside the classroom and in your future career.

Advising: Meet your advisor and learn more about your chosen major. Find out how to effectively navigate the classes you’ll need to complete to earn your degree.

Class Selection: Work with your advisor to select your courses for the upcoming semester! Ask questions to the Orientation Leaders, learn about their journeys, and envision your own classroom experience.

Giveaways: End your day in the Student Lounge to relax, enjoy some ice cream from the UConn Dairy Bar, and receive a welcoming gift for joining Husky Nation!

Student Orientation

Orientation is a 1-day program required for all new students at UConn Waterbury. Your Orientation experience will be spent on-campus connecting with peers and administrators in person, learning about campus resources, participating in academic advising, and registering for courses.

UConn Regional Undergraduate Family Orientation – Summer 2024

Family Orientation is a program designed to educate our husky family members about offices, services, resources, and processes that can help you in supporting your student as they transition to UConn.

June 11: Privacy @ UConn

University Privacy will provide an overview of FERPA, how students can designate access, and other resources.

June 12: Financial Responsibility

One Stop and the Bursar will discuss payment methods, types of aid, an overview of deadline and other resources.

June 13: Student Health and Wellness

Student Health and Wellness will review required documentation, an overview of their services, and how a family member can support their student.

June 18: University Safety

University Safety will share information about how students can access help and provide insight for how students can remain safe both on campus and in their respective community.

June 19: Disability Services

The Center for Disability Services will discuss the differences between high school and college accommodations, the types of accommodations the university offers, required documentation and the registration process, and other resources.

June 20: Understanding Advising

Advising staff will discuss general degree requirements, the academic calendar, the advising process, the advisor/advisee relationship, transfer credits, and other important information.

June 25: Eating in Your Community

Representatives from each regional campus will review eating options, Husky Harvest, how to plan for dietary accommodations, and other relevant information.

June 26: Career Development

The Center for Career Development will provide an overview of career progression during college, services, and recourse available to students and alumni.

In-Person Family Orientation

Each regional campus is also hosting an in-person event where family members of new students are invited to come explore campus, meet staff and administrators, and learn about campus specific programs/resources. Registration for this event is available in the Family Onboarding Portal. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with information about parking, event location, etc.
