Our Program

Once you have been admitted to UConn and paid your enrollment fee, you will receive an email about Orientation which consists of three parts that are all required for incoming students.

Orientation Services Mission

The University of Connecticut’s onboarding and orientation experiences are crucial to the transformative event that is college. Through dynamic offerings, we curate an environment that has our newest huskies and their family members feeling celebrated, connected, and prepared. Students are central to this journey where they will acquire the tools needed to begin their adventure at UConn with a foundation for success.

Our hope is by participating in our program, as outlined above, students and family members will acquire a certain level of knowledge.

Student Orientation Learning Outcomes

Students participating in Orientation will...

  • Identify resources, services, and departments that can assist them during their transition to and duration at UConn.
  • Use UConn specific terminology, processes, and technology applications and platforms.
  • Describe the importance of employing self-advocacy, resilience, and accountability during academic and co-curricular experiences.
  • Recognize curricular and co-curricular opportunities to deepen learning and have an impact at UConn and beyond.
  • Demonstrate a sense of connection with peers, belonging in the community, and affinity to UConn.

Family Orientation Learning Outcomes

Family members and supporters participating in Orientation will...

  • Summarize available resources, how to access them, and ways to collaborate with university administrators.
  • Describe student privacy rights, behavioral expectations of community members, and appropriate avenues to support their student.
  • Identify UConn specific technology applications, platforms, and processes to assist them in supporting their student.
  • Outline ways to engage through participation in university events and connecting to the greater UConn community.
