University of Connecticut University of UC Title Fallback Connecticut

Parent/Guardian Orientation Invitation and Sign-up

For the Parents of Students Beginning Classes in the Fall:  (August)

New UConn freshmen and transfer students may submit a reservation on behalf of their parents or guardians who wish to attend the Parent/Guardian Orientation through the same online reservation form that they use to sign up for their Freshman or Transfer Orientation program.  The Parent/Guardian Orientation program is not mandatory for parents to attend but it is a nice option to become more acquainted with the university at Storrs.  The program provides parents with a solid introduction to the university.  There are many sessions that parents can attend to learn about the academics, support services and business aspects of the Storrs campus.

PARENT ORIENTATION IS A SEPARATE PROGRAM FROM NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION:  Parent Orientation, whether for freshman or transfer parents is a completely separate program from the new student Orientation program.  Parent Orientation occurs during the same time period as the new student Orientation program but is totally separate.  Parents are with their students during the opening meeting and then will not meet up with them again until the student program ends at 5:00 p.m.  (The two-day freshman program ends at 5:00 p.m. on the second day and the one-day Transfer Orientation program ends at 5:00 p.m. on the same day.)

HOW TO SIGN UP:  The “Parent/Guardian Orientation Sign-Up” section is within the student Orientation reservation form.  This is where students can sign up their parents and guardians for Parent/Guardian Orientation  The Parent/Guardian Orientation program occurs only during the Mid-May through Mid-July Orientation period.

SESSION DESIGNATION FOR PARENTS:  Parents/guardians will automatically be assigned to attend the Parent/Guardian Orientation program that occurs on the same day(s) as their son or daughter’s Orientation program.  Parents can attend Parent Orientation on a different day than their student’s orientation program, however.  Parents who want to attend Orientation on a different day need to work with their student when making the reservation on the student’s online reservation form to select the session that the parent/guardian can attend.

MORE INFORMATION:  For more information on Parent/Guardian Orientation including cost, length and a sample schedule access the Parent/Guardian Orientation Program section of this website.
